IIT Center for Cyber Security and Forensics Education (C2SAFE) was established on December 2, 2013 as a multi-disciplinary center within Illinois Tech's School of Applied Technology. The Center was established by C. Robert Carlson, who was Dean of Illinois Tech's School of Applied Technology at the time.

William Lidinsky, Industry Professor of Information Technology and Management, was appointed as Interim Director of the Center. Raymond E. Trygstad, Industry Professor of Information Technology & Management, is appointed as Interim Associate Director of the Center.

IIT Center for Cyber Security and Forensics Education (C2SAFE) is currently adding members to its Advisory Board.

Professor Lidinsky will continue as Director, Security and Forensics Laboratory which under the Charter is now the IIT Center for Cyber Security and Forensics Education Security and Forensics Laboratory.

In Summer 2020 the Center for Cyber Security and Forensics Education (C2SAFE) became part of the newly formed College of Computing.
