Supporting Industry through Education
The mission of Industrial Technology and Management (INTM) is to provide students with a broad knowledge of industrial technologies and how they are applied, as well as focus on the practical managerial and communication skills required to effectively manage operations, personnel, and resources. Emphasis is on the breadth of the educational experience within an industrial sector rather than in-depth expertise in narrow subject areas. Success in industry requires a broad flexible knowledge base that can be applied to provide practical solutions to complex situations.
The degrees offered by the Industrial Technology and Management Program (INTM) at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) combine coverage of state-of the-art technologies with world-class management approaches. Both the Bachelor of Industrial Technology and Management (BINTM) and the Master of Industrial Technology and Operations (MITO) are intended to prepare students for management and staff careers in industry.
INTM’s faculty members have an average of 15 years of teaching experience and 30 years of industrial experience, bringing first-person perspectives to the classroom. Students are encouraged to pursue courses that best satisfy their career interests and objectives.
The INTM curriculum includes a range of managerial topics; financial and resource management, sales and marketing, risk assessment, project management, entrepreneurship and more. In-depth study is facilitated through Industrial Specializations, available to both graduate and undergraduate students:
- Industrial Facilities (IF)
- Industrial Sustainability (ST)
- Manufacturing Technology (MT)
- Supply Chain Management (SCM)
- Telecommunication Tech (TT)
INTM courses generally meet one night a week to suit the schedules of working adults. Classes meet at IIT’s Main Campus in Chicago, the Rice Campus in Wheaton, and via the internet for students located elsewhere in the world. Please see our Program information for more details on course offerings.
