Patrick transferred into the INTM program after completing an A.A.S. degree in Stationary Engineering at Triton College in River Grove, IL. Soon after starting INTM, he was hired as a Building Operating Engineer at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) and continued school part time while working full time and raising a family.  At JLL Patrick received continued promotions from Building Engineer to Assistant Chief Engineer to Chief Engineer to Building Consultant.  JLL is a financial and professional services firm specializing in commercial real estate services and investment management that employs 48,000 people in 1,000 locations in 70 countries. Patrick's work took him to different JLL sites to assess the local, regional and global real estate needs of the company's corporate tenants and investors.  In 2013 Patrick received the J.H. Roe Memorial Award from JLL, a top honor named for the individual most responsible for the current level of operating excellence in Engineering and Operation at the firm.  He was also the subject of a JLL video showcasing the responsibilities and rewards of being a Building Engineer. 

At the beginning of 2015, Patrick accepted a new position as Engineering Manager with real estate developer Sterling Bay in Chicago.  Patrick credits his INTM courses, the faculty and staff with providing the foundations for management, understanding of operations, and applications related to strategy that he needed to build upon his technical skills and advance his career.

SmartLab Student Projects

As an Information Technology student and a person very much interested in Art, it was easy for me to be hooked by Digital Art. Project Aura was an idea that stemmed from my passion for Technology and Art.

The purpose of this project is to improve the current state of security devices. Today, most security companies use several guards for different tasks, but at least one guard has to monitor the cameras or other systems.

A smart mirror is a two-way mirror with an electronic display behind the glass. The display can show the viewer different kinds of information in the form of widgets, such as weather, time, date, and news updates.

Our team was given the task of develop an electronic prototype covering the elements learned in the Embedded Systems course. These elements are electricity, data collection, data transmission, and data presentation. To do this, we created an electronic version of the board game Go.

EcoTower takes Hydroponic farming to the next level by using technology to self-regulate plant growth. Hydroponics is the science of giving a plant the necessities for growth and longevity.
