Industrial Technology and Management is frequently informed of job openings at area companies. Generally, such positions would be well served by a BINTM or MITO student or graduate. INTM circulates job opportunity notices to students and alumni via email. Active students are automatically included on the email list, as are alumni who have graduated within the past three years. Opportunities are also announced on INTM’s LinkedIn group for students and alumni. Alumni who would like to be added to the email list should contact Eve Gutmann at 312.567.3649 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Employers who wish to have a job opening circulated should send an email request to Herb Shields at email@example.com.
Job Fairs and Career Management Resources at IIT
While neither IIT nor INTM formally facilitate job placement, we do our best to help students find a job. IIT’s Career Management Center (CMC) holds two major job fairs per year, in early fall and early spring. CMC holds two to three smaller events, entitled “Career Connections”. CMC also maintains the ‘NACElink’ jobs database, wherein students post resumes and employers post open positions. In addition, CMC offers seminars on a variety of career-oriented topics, reviews student resumes, and conducts mock interviews to help students prepare for job interviews. Visit the CMC website to view their events calendar, register for NACElink access and connect with CMC’s outstanding career counselors.
INTM Job Search Workshops
INTM routinely offers a two-session Job Search Workshop, facilitated by Herb Shields, Adjunct Professor and INTM’s Career Development Advisor. Drawing from his expertise as a hiring manager and business professional, he presents practical tips and strategies for job searches and on-the-job success. Check the INTM events calendar for the next workshop offering.
Job Search Counseling
Finding a good job is not always easy; it takes time, planning, effort, and patience. Students who are actively looking for a job, be it an internship, co-op or full-time position, are encouraged to meet with Prof. Shields to discuss career goals and job search activities. Many INTM students have made positive employment connections through Prof. Shields. To make an appointment, please contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org. Bring your resume!
