System Administration at Illinois Tech

Illinois Institute of Technology’s (IIT) System Administration undergraduate degree, graduate degree, and certificate program includes coursework covering installation, configuring, upkeep, activation of accounts, security controls, installation and configuration of routers and switchers, monitoring of network performance, and troubleshooting and repairing problems among multi-user computers such as servers and large scale systems to the deployment of clouds and the use of virtualization.

IIT’s System Administration program is designed to help students and experienced information technology professionals become successful system administration managers and leaders.

Coursework in programming, security, Linux, Unix, Microsoft® and systems administration will enhance your technology skills and prepare you for leadership and management in interconnecting systems and platforms into a common data-sharing infrastructure.

What Will I Learn?

The curriculum emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of issues such as network administration and operations; distributed workstation system administration; client-server system administration; open source operating systems; cloud computing technologies; operating system security and virtualization; storage technologies; project management; information technology management frameworks; mainframe administration; and networking and telecommunications management.
