About this Course: 

The Master Certificate in System Administration is awarded to those participants who have completed any three of the five courses: Linux+ Certification Training, Shell Scripting for System Administration, Windows End-User System Administration, Windows Server Administration, Linux System Administration of the Information Technology Certificate Program offered through the School of Applied Technology of Illinois Institute of Technology. Those interested in pursuing this award must complete at least three of these courses. Most often these courses can be successfully completed in one year or less. 

Participants who wish to pursue this Master Certificate would be best served by working with a program manager of the Information Technology Certificate Program for guidance. Some courses may be taken simultaneously and some may require prerequisites. Allowing the program manager to assist in planning the sequence of classes would ensure a successful and enjoyable experience as participants reach their goals.

Course Details: 

This program is designed for students seeking knowledge that will prepare them for a career as a system administrator. The three required courses must include any three of the five courses listed below (not necessarily in the following order): 

IT-O 417  Shell Scripting for System Administrators, a 16 week course where participants focus on preparation of shell scripts to enhance and streamline system administration tasks in all contemporary server operating systems. 

IT-O 450 Windows End-User Administration, a 16 week course in which participants learn to set up, configure and maintain end-user-desktop and portable computers and devices in an enterprise environment using a contemporary proprietary operating system, including the actual installation of the operating system in a network client-server environment.

IT-O 451 Windows Server Administration, a 16 week course covering the setup, maintenance and administration of X86-based servers and associated networks using Windows.

IT-O 456 Linux+ Certification Training, a 16 week course where participants learn to set up and configure Linux, including system installation and basic system administration; system architecture; package management; command line commands; devices, filer systems, and the file system hierarchy standard.

IT-O 457 Linux System Administration, a 16 week course where for setting up, configuration and administrating an industry standard open-source server operating system.
