Research  

Footlik is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the U.S. and abroad with extensive experience in Materials Handling, Plant Layout, and Management Systems. His background also includes construction, real estate, machine processes, and human resources/training. Prior to joining the faculty at IIT, Footlik was Materials Handling Director of the Midwest Industrial Management Association where he developed and taught courses for middle and upper management. He continues to lecture for numerous professional trade societies in the U.S., Canada, and overseas. Currently, Footlik is President of Footlik & Associates Consulting Engineers. His clients include six trade associations. He and his family are generous donors to IIT. INTM's Interactive Classroom was funded by the Irving M. and Sylvia Footlik Foundation. In addition, the family created an endowed scholarship in memory of Mr. Irving M. Footlik (ME ’39) to benefit students who obtain practical training at a community college and transfer to IIT for the BINTM degree.

Publications 

Footlik has published more than 400 articles for professional journals including Industrial Engineering, Materials Handling Management and Modern Materials Handling. He has also authored two sections in the Materials Handling Handbook (Ed., Raymond A. Kulwiec, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and International Material Management Society, Wiley-Interscience, 2nd Edition, 2008) and one section of The Warehouse Management Handbook (James A. Tompkins, McGraw-Hill Ryerson, Limited, 1997).
