Quality Innovative Education

International students will select Illinois Tech because they gain an educational experience with language support that is not replicated at other universities. Students will report that the language support received at Illinois Tech prepared them for success in their careers. For students who are seeking admission, English Language Services will provide a means to allow more international students entry to the university.

Innovative and engaging language instruction is key to creating high-achieving students as they pursue their academic and professional goals. Leveraging classroom and pedagogical technology to provide an engaging learning environment will support international students in becoming executives, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders in their respective fields. Many graduates often go on to occupy key positions in industry, government, and academia, thereby lending added distinction to the university.

    • Develop more engaging assessments for receptive skills by AY 2020.
    • Faculty/Staff development
      • Identify, develop, and provide high quality professional development opportunities for faculty each year.
      • Support instructors to attend local or national TESOL conferences every 2 years.√
      • Develop and offer an annual workshop on working with non-native English-speaking students to university faculty and staff.

    • Increase revenue to acquire full-time faculty and staff positions by AY 2025.

      • Develop and offer an annual workshop on working with non-native English-speaking students to university faculty and staff.
      • Establish coursework for English Pathways Program students by AY 2020.
      • Develop undergraduate English language requirement with Admissions by AY 2020.
    • Collect and analyze student needs for the various academic disciplines.
