Academic Advising

Academic advising plays an important role for all students at IIT. The few minutes it takes to review course choices and discuss scheduling options with an adviser helps ensure all courses taken will apply towards the student’s degree program.

Undergraduate students and first-term graduate students are required to consult with an academic adviser on course choices in order to obtain the Alternate PIN, which is required in order to begin the registration process. Continuing graduate students have access to the Alternate PIN within the myIIT portal, under ‘Personal ID Numbers’ on the Welcome page.

INTM students may consult with an advisor in person, by phone or via email. New students are asked to make an appointment for academic advising with Mr. Mazin Safar, INTM’s Program Director, or Pamela Houser, INTM’s Program Manager. This first meeting is an important opportunity for the student to outline career and educational objectives, ask questions about the program, discuss course and specialization options, and address other administrative matters.

Undergraduate Transcript Evaluation

Newly admitted undergraduate students will be contacted by an INTM staff member to review the results of the official transcript evaluation issued by IIT’s Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs. The evaluation identifies all credit successfully transferred to IIT and applied towards the BINTM program. Transfer credit, IIT coursework and outstanding degree requirements can then be monitored through the DegreeWorks system within the myIIT portal. IIT transfer credit guidelines for community colleges in the Chicagoland area are maintained by Undergraduate Academic Affairs at

Graduate Program of Study

Degree-seeking graduate students must complete the G401 Program of Study form in their first semester of attendance. In essence, the 401 form identifies the 10 courses which the student will complete to earn the MITO degree. Individuals who have graduate-level transfer credit should schedule an appointment with Ms. Houser to complete the 401 Form. Review instructions for completing the 401 form; access the 401 form.
