Industrial Technology and Management (INTM) program students work in a wide range of fields—both while in school and after they graduate. INTM students and graduates work in the manufacturing, supply chain, facilities management, and construction. Employers come to INTM seeking students who are skilled in project management, inventory management, data analytics, sustainable practices, and technology integration.

Job Opportunities

There are three ways for INTM students and alumni to learn about job opportunities:

  • Directly from INTM—The program encourages employers to contact us to seek job candidates with skills or coursework that matches their specific needs. We circulate these job opportunities via email to all active students and alumni who have graduated within the past three years.
  • Social Media—INTM has a LinkedIn group composed of alumni, current students, faculty, and INTM industry partners. The primary purpose is for a discussion of industry trends and to share news and information relevant to the group members. Employers may request to get access in the IIT Industrial Technology and Management Group jobs section.
  • Illinois Tech Career Services—All INTM students and graduates have access to the array of university resources, including career coaching and workshops and events, as well as twice-annual career fairs and occasional industry-specific hiring events. All Illinois Tech students also have access to Handshake, an online career management application with numerous job search tools including resume review and matching for specific jobs.

Alumni who would like to be added to the jobs email list three years after graduation should contact Kayla Botica at kbotica1@iit.edu.

INTM Career Advising and Networking Opportunities

INTM Adjunct Professor Herb Shields serves as the program’s designated career adviser. Shields runs a job search workshop for INTM students at least once per year, drawing from his expertise as a hiring manager and industry executive. He is also available to meet individually by appointment with any student or alum who is actively looking for a job, internship, co-op, or full-time position.

Employers who wish to have a job opening posted through INTM should send an email request to Shields at shields@iit.edu.

INTM highly encourages students to pursue professional development and networking while enrolled through involvement in Illinois Tech student chapters of professional organizations. The department supports the activities of three student chapters of national organizations focused on the supply chain and the electrical industry. These are student-led groups whose members organize site visits and opportunities to work with professionals on special projects, participate in competitions, and attend local and national conferences.
