IoT - Build a Gondola with a Continuous Servo Motor

NxtGen IoT - Build a Gondola with a Continuous Servo MotorWorkshop Overview:

Students will construct a gondola (like a small ski lift) with Circuit Playground Express and a continuous servo motor. The students will code their Circuit Playground Express so the gondola can carry small items between points. Students will create sensors that use light, sound or infrared signal to start and stop the gondola.

Students will keep the Circuit Playground Express kit which is included in the price of the course.    

Who Should Attend:

This NxtGen Tech course is open to any high school freshman, sophomore, junior or senior (and technically advanced incoming 8th graders with IIT Staff approval). No special prerequisite knowledge is required, however, it is recommended that students have some technical knowledge. Students practice hands-on basics and continue into advanced techniques, while building small project-based websites and web applications.


Jeremy Hajek an Industry Associate Professor and a Graduate and Undergraduate Adviser of Information Technology and Management at Illinois Institute of Technology. He is also the Director of the Director of the Smart Tech: Embedded Systems Lab at Illinois Institute of Technology.
