Research Interests

Philip Lewis has extensive experience in electronics manufacturing, stainless steel industrial products, motor controls/valves and process control systems integration. Prior to coming to IIT, he was President of Doran Scales, and worked in Electronics Test and Production Quality at Allen Bradley. He has served as a consultant in marketing, operations, and management for the Chicago Manufacturing Center, Fisher Controls, Collins Radio and many other companies. As an Adjunct Faculty member with INTM for over 10 years, Phil’s expertise has been applied primarily within the IPRO program, building relationships with companies and community partners who sponsor teams. He helps the sponsors identify real-world problems suitable for students to solve, and manages teams of students with a variety of skills, background, and experience.Phil pursues IPRO projects that focus on developing students’ management, technology, and engineering skills within an industrial setting. Many projects have provided solutions that were implemented immediately, and others resulted in long term associations. He is currently redeveloping INTM’s Sales and Marketing course (INTM 404) for the fall 2013 term.
